Character

It is irregular, round or oblate, and varies in size. The surface is white, light red or tan, uneven, and porous like honeycomb. The body is light and powdery, fragile, white or light red in section, granular, with small pores, and hygroscopic. Odorless and slightly astringent. The body is light, loose, large, white or reddish.

Original form

1. Magnesite crystal structure belongs to trigonal crystal system. A single crystal is rhombohedral or complex trigonal trihedral, but it is rare. They are often stalactite, massive, earthy, and crusty. Pure white, often dyed gray, pale yellow, light green or light brown. Transparent to translucent, glass luster or dull earthy luster, and sometimes pearl luster on the crystal surface. Hardness of 4.5-5, brittleness, uneven fracture. Relative density is 4-4.5.

2. It is block-shaped, soil-like, porous to dense, skin-shell-like, and concentric band-shaped with fine fiber structure. White to grayish yellow, brown purple, light purple. Earthy luster, also silky luster. Hardness 4, relative density 3.5-3.8.
